I am a young scholar, thinker, and devout Episcopalian living and working in Portland Oregon. I was born here and have spent most of my life growing up in this fascinating city. My goal for much of my life has always been to do as my Lord wishes, and eventually seek out ordained ministry when the time is right.
From the beginning I have had the mixed blessing of being a tallented and gifted child, and though it made learning come easily to me it also opened the door for some very poor work and study habits that have taken me a long time to break. I attended US Grant high school for four miserable and delightful years where my poor study habits, sheer boredom, and clinical depression all came to a head, and I came very close to not graduating. I can not express how grateful I am to one particular senior English teacher who had mercy on me and allowed me to complete my work very late in order to graduate on time.

After graduating with an abysmal GPA and having a very eventful Summer (tore my acl and had surgery, among other things) I wasn't quite sure how to proceed. I hadn't applied for any colleges; I figured none of them would want me. I enrolled at Portland Community College, where I quickly excelled to meet the potential many had spent years telling me I had.
College life suited me perfectly, and I ended up serving in student government, presiding over a chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society, and joing American Mensa. After PCC I moved on to Portland State University, where in 2014 I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in English. I have been spending a few years as a non student, working at a nonprofit arts school and heading up an Episcopal youth program, as I prepare to return to school one day soon and officially begin the ordination process.
My goal with this blog is to catalogue my thoughts and feelings and have an outlet where I can share what I know, believe, hope, and fear with a community of readers and engage in a meaningful dialogue. It also will hopefully serve to keep my skills sharp as a writer so that I don't lose all that hard work I did for my degree :)
I look forward to sharing the future with you. No matter who you are, who you have been, or who you may become, please know that God and I will always love you.
